MOUTARDERIE POMMERY

For centuries, the fertile lands around Paris have been home to mustard cultivation, with origins tracing as far back as the era of Charlemagne. Among the most celebrated legacies of this tradition is Meaux® Mustard Pommery®, whose history reaches back to 1632, when it was served at royal banquets. In 1760, a canon entrusted Jean-Baptiste Pommery with the secret recipe of this remarkable culinary specialty. This marked the beginning of a story that has continued uninterrupted through the centuries. Originally, our company – once known as Les Vinaigreries du Lion – was established in 1865 to produce and supply vinegar for the preparation of Meaux® Mustard. Over time, it naturally embraced the full production of mustard itself. What sets Meaux® Mustard Pommery® apart is its timeless authenticity. The recipe, unchanged since 1632, is crafted exclusively from carefully selected ingredients that give the mustard its distinctive flavor, refined texture, and subtle aroma. Its reputation has long been established among Parisian gourmets, renowned chefs, and prestigious restaurants. Just as iconic as its taste is its presentation: the mustard is still offered in its traditional stoneware jar, sealed with a cork and wax – the only packaging capable of ensuring its remarkable preservation over time. Pommery® has always remained a family endeavor. For more than five generations – over 130 years – the craft has been passed from father to son, ensuring continuity, authenticity, and dedication to excellence. Today, while still proudly rooted in its artisanal heritage, the house has grown into a globally recognized name. We are honored to share our ancestral savoir-faire with the world. From Michelin-starred restaurants to grand hotels, fine food shops, and luxury retailers, our mustards and vinegars now reach connoisseurs in over 70 countries. Each jar carries with it not only the unique flavor of Meaux® Mustard Pommery®, but also the heritage of a family that has devoted itself to preserving a centuries-old tradition of French gastronomy.
