Enrico Derflinger, born in Lecco in 1962, is one of the most renowned Italian chefs globally. After graduating from the Hotel Institute of Bellagio in 1977, he began his career humbly, rising through the ranks in prestigious European hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants. At 26, he became the first and only Italian to serve as Personal Chef to the British Royal Family, and later, Chef at the White House under President George H. W. Bush. In 1994, he earned his first Michelin Star, awarded by Paul Bocuse. He then led the Terrace of Eden in Rome for nine years before becoming Executive Chef at the Palace Hotel in St. Moritz. He was honored among the top ten chefs worldwide, winning the Five Star Diamond Award in 2008. Derflinger spent a decade in Japan, opening over 30 Italian restaurants including Armani Ginza Tower. He later collaborated on openings in Dubai, New York, and Milan. He has represented Italy at major events like the Olympics and G20 summits. Since 2012, he has been a key figure in Euro-Toques, serving as President of both the Italian and International branches. In 2023, he represented Italy in New York for the candidacy of Italian cuisine for UNESCO heritage status.
